Fitness Camp FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a refund policy?

If, for whatever reason you are unable to attend Camp, refunds will be offered so long as you give sufficient notice prior to your session start date. The cut-off time for transfers, refunds or credits is 2 days PRIOR to your Camp session start date. Failure to provide sufficient notice for cancellation will result in NO transfers, refunds or credits issued. This is due to the fact that you had reserved a spot in the session that I can no longer fill after the session has started.

If I sign up for the first 4 weeks and want to continue can I just pay the difference?

If you had signed up for 4 weeks, but wish to continue for the full 8 weeks you can register for the second half

Why do you only run two-week sessions in March and December?

Since March and December are busy with vacations and holidays, I run mini-boot camp sessions at this time.

Does Camp run outdoors in the winter?

No, being outside in the snow is not the most ideal of settings for working out, which is why during the colder months (October through April) I run boot camps indoors at a local school.

I have a knee problem, should I join?

Fitness Camp allows you to work at your own pace, plus modifications are given for many of the exercises. That being said, because of the large number of squats and lunges we do, if you have any SERIOUS knee injury or disability it would be best that you consult a physician for approval before signing up for Camp.

I am pregnant, is it okay to join Camp?

No, pregnant women are not able to participate in any Camp sessions unless otherwise given permission in the form of a PAR Med X form filled in by their physician. The risks to the fetus are greatly increased when engaging in exercises that significantly raise the heart rate.

How soon after my pregnancy can I join Camp?

If your pregnancy is not complicated (i.e. separated abdominal muscles), it is considered safe to engage in activity 6 weeks after giving birth. However, after a pregnancy I do recommend that you check with your physician to obtain official clearance before starting any kind of activity.

How old do you have to be to join Camp?

The minimum age requirement to participate in Camp is 16 years old (with parental/guardian signature) or 18 years old without guardian signature.

Are you a Certified Fitness Professional?

Yes. I am certified with The Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology as a Certified Personal Trainer and with The Ontario Fitness Council as a Fitness Instructor.

Are you insured?

Yes! I am required to have Fitness Professional Liability Insurance.

What if it rains the night of a Camp?

Like any outdoor program, weather will sometimes become a factor. I run the Camp in the rain as long as there is no lightening or thunder.

Are you CPR and First Aid certified?

Absolutely, it is a requirement by my liability insurer

What if it’s really cold outside?

I recommend that you dress in layers. Gloves and hats are also good to have when it gets chilly. Winter sessions, which mainly consist of the colder months, will be held inside at a local school.

What if it’s really hot outside?

Dress appropriately because between May and September, Camp sessions will be held outside. I recommend that you wear light, breathable clothing and be sure to bring extra bottles of water so that you stay hydrated. Consuming water before, during and after camp is strongly advised. During your session, listen to your body and take rests/breaks as needed. I also provide water with ice and face cloths to cool down.

Can any fitness level join?

Absolutely, Get Fit Boot Camp welcomes women of all ages and levels of fitness from the first-timer to the fitness fanatic!

What should I bring to camp?

You are required to bring:

  • A towel or yoga mat to lay on the ground
  • A bottle of water to every session
  • Appropriate athletic clothing
  • Running shoes
  • A sweat towel
